While you are typing, often you’ll need to go back or forward to make a correction. Instead of pressing the back button 20 times or lifting your hands from the keyboard to use the mouse, consider using the CTRL button.
Hold the CTRL + the forward or backward arrow will move your cursor over whole words instead of one letter at a time.
The same works for selecting large sections of text, use CTRL + SHIFT + forward or backward arrow and you can select whole words very quickly. Keep the CTRL button held down as long as you need- no need to press them at the same time.
